Founded in 1803, Sycamore Township began as a small farming community. It wasn’t until after World War II when developers started to build subdivisions, now known as Kenwood and Dillionvale, that people began flocking to the area.
Today it is a well known mecca for shopping, with the Kenwood Mall at its center. The township also features a plethora of businesses, restaurants and entertainment, as well as a number of residential neighborhoods.
Fun Fact: Sycamore Township’s first claim to fame was Christian Waldsmith’s paper mill. While paper may be an easy to find commodity now, back in the day, the closest supplier was in Redstone, PA and deliveries weren’t as reliable, leaving pioneers unable to write letters, print newspapers or perform paperwork for legal transactions such as land grants.
